Country Dance Events
Down East Dancers, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer, charitable organization, dedicated to the promotion of Country dance since 1990.
All dances are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Dances are held at the TAUNTON ELKS LODGE, 119 High Street, TAUNTON, MA, 508-824-7878, on the SECOND SATURDAY (usually) of each month. (except December dance - see below for new date.)
DIRECTIONS to the Taunton Elks Lodge: Follow Rte. 24 North or South to Exit 13 B, US 44 West, follow for about 2.4 miles. At the Taunton Green, continue to follow signs to stay on Rte. 44 around the Taunton Green. Turn Rt. onto High Street at the traffic light. Taunton Elks driveway will be directly on your left. Couples or Line Dance instruction at 7:30 p.m. by different instructors each month. Dancing for couples, line dancing and mixers: 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The various DJs play Country music tunes (and some non-country music) for all styles and levels of dancing. Line dancers and couples are able to dance, at the same time, on the large dance floor, to every selection played.
A half-pot drawing and pot-luck refreshment table are also featured. Cash bar available for all beverages. ATTENDANCE has been averaging 100 or more Country dancers per monthly dance. Admission is still only $7!

January 9 — DJ/Dance Instructor Dave Pytka taught: Cortland Grapevine and Why Don't We Just Dance.
February 13 — DJ/Dance Instructor Dave Pytka taught: Drinks on the Table and Beach Bop Boogie.
March 20 — DJs/Dance Instructors Donna Shea & Mike Quigley taught: Tennessee Waltz Surprise and a Two-Step lesson
April 10 — DJ/Dance Instructor Steve Falk taught: Boots On, Starlight Waltz II and Lets Party.
May 8 - Dance Instructor, Mimi Leary taught: I Need You Now same title as the tune by Lady Antebellum; Instructor, Arlene Verity taught: This and That by choreographer, Garry Lafferty to Woman by Mark Chestnut.
June 12 - DJ/Dance Instructor Robbie Dail taught: Cadillacs and Caviar line dance and the partner dance: Cadillacs and Caviar For Two plus a review of Let's Party (a beginner dance that some dancers do while the advanced dancers do Chill Factor). Dance Instructor, Mimi Leary taught a review of I Need You Now at 7 p.m. July 10--Dance Instructor Mimi Leary taught White T Shirt to the song Water by Brad Paisley.
